Many car buyers are keeping their eyes peeled for end of year special pricing and, while car pricing may vary day-to-day and dealership to dealership, one constant remains; according to an annual report released by Pittsburgh and PPG, white is still the top automotive paint choice among car buyers.
There are a few reasons this may ring true:
- White is typically a dominating automotive paint color because it is readily available for any model on the lot.
- It is considered neutral enough that owners don’t tire of the color.
- Car purchases are likely the second largest investment a consumer will make, therefore most lean towards the conservative auto paint colors
White topped vehicle colors in every region of the world.
Did you know? 38% of all vehicles built worldwide in 2016 were white, up 35% from 2015! PPG’s report also showed a 25% of cars in North America were white, 37% in South America, 33% in Europe and 47% in the Asia Pacific.
In Asia, the numbers are staggering, as it is believed to be the car color of choice because white makes smaller cars appear larger and more noticeable. The other top shades this year also fell in the neutral category. Black had a 16% global share, Silver had 12% and gray had 10%.
