The holiday season is a time of giving, so join in on the fun! Martin Auto Color has chosen a few organizations throughout the Northern and Southern California, as well as Nevada that could use your support this holiday season!

ADOPT A FAMILY

Bring joy to someone’s life this holiday season and become a sponsor in the Department of Public and Social Services (DPSS) Adopt-A-Family program. Each year, this heartfelt and long-standing tradition continues to bring smiles to hundreds of needy families served by DPSS.

Los Angeles County staff, individuals, groups, community members, and local businesses can all participate in this joyous and gratifying event by sponsoring families. Sponsors are provided with the “adoptee’s” contact information along with their “wish list” of requested items. These items range from grocery items, clothing, gift certificates, or toy requests. The ‘Spirit of Giving’ is contagious and numerous volunteers who in past years have participated in this program have voiced this heartfelt sentiment. Volunteers so enjoy participating in the program that some gather together family, friends, and coworkers and hold “gift basket parties” where each person contributes items and their personal touch to the specially prepared holiday baskets. This activity is fun for the volunteers and a delight for the beneficiaries to receive!

MEGANS WINGS

Megan’s Wings is a non-profit volunteer based foundation established in memory of 9 year old Megan Savage who lost her battle to Leukemia on April 2nd, 2003. Megan’s Wings provides help and services to families of children with cancer. It is our wish to ease the burdens of cancer on families and aid in the search for a cure.

CARSON CITY HOLIDAY WITH A HERO 2017

A collaboration of agencies and organizations officially kicked off the 2017 Holiday with a Hero campaign giving at least 200 homeless children in Carson City a Christmas experience by providing them with gift cards to spend on themselves prior to the holiday.

Entering its 13th year, the holiday giving program is designed around the generosity of Carson City citizens, businesses and their donations that directly benefit local school. For more information on how you can help, visit this site.

 

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SHRINERS: MAKE WISHES COME TRUE

You can make holiday wishes come true for kids at Shriners Hospitals for Children by participating in the FOX40 Holiday Toy Drive. FOX40 is coordinating the annual benefit in partnership with Big O Tires, Star 106.5, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and KHOP@95.1.

It is easy to participate. Between November 28 and December 9, you may drop off new, unwrapped toys at participating Big O Tires and Dickey’s Barbeque Pit locations in the Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto areas.

The toys will be delivered to the Shriners Hospital in Sacramento between 8 and 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 15. The spectacular delivery will be broadcast live on FOX40 news. Wondering eyes will surely appear as representatives from FOX40 and participating sponsors unload the donations and place the new toys under the Christmas tree in the hospital lobby.
