The “Colorful Communities” program is an initiative started by PPG to bring color to communities where they operate to help beautify, unify, and better the neighborhoods of their workers and others.
The 2nd ever Colorful Communities project was completed in San Juan del Rio, Mexico, where PPG has a coatings plant and it’s Mexico headquarters. This time, the project revitalized the park, playground and traffic school on the grounds of the Headquarters of Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation in the La Floresta neighborhood.
For this project, PPG brought together 100 volunteers, who were each very excited to work on this 3-day initiative. By providing the financial support of $11,000, PPG not only worked to bring color to the community through their signature paint products; but also worked towards repairing structures along with fixing bicycles and tricycles at the site.
The PPG Company prioritises the importance of community and, just in 2015, had contributed $7.8 million dollars to various community organisations across the world; 20 countries to be specific! Through not only donating their products to the initiatives, but also providing PPG volunteers, their goal was to promote a skilled workforce for today and innovators for tomorrow, all through creating better communities.
