Bring on the shine for happy customers

Researchers have shown that humans take a shine to glossy objects and surfaces, including gleaming cars.

Two PPG^® Refinish products now available to auto collision repair professionals can help bring unrivaled gloss to completed repair jobs and smiles to the faces of consumers who drive away with an unrivaled shine on their vehicles.

This summer, PPG Automotive Refinish introduced AQUABASE^® Plus waterborne basecoat P190-6950 Extended Performance Clearcoat and EC550 EN-V^® Ultra Gloss Clearcoat for Envirobase High Performance Basecoat to its product lineup.

P190-6950 should be used over AQUABASE^® Plus waterborne basecoat. Touted as an easy-to-use clearcoat, PPG^® Refinish recommends the product for use on large repairs. Its characteristics include superior flow and leveling characteristics, a simple mix ratio and the ability to use in all booth conditions.

“Its proven technology ensures outstanding gloss retention and a luxurious appearance. We’re confident that our customers will find that this new clearcoat gives them unsurpassed quality and a significant production advantage,” said Automotive Refinish Segment Manager Tim Jones.

EC550 En-V^® Plus waterborne Ultra Gloss Clearcoat is part of the ENVIROBASE^® High Performance waterborne basecoat. Easy to use, the new clearcoat is used for overalls and multi-panel applications. Like P190-6950, this product offers excellent flow and leveling qualities, “properties that are critical for delivering premium OEM-level finishes,” according to the company.

“We’ve given EC550 En-V Ultra Gloss all the attributes PPG customers have asked for,” said Tim Jones, Automotive Refinish segment manager. “It’s production-friendly, easy to apply and yields an unmatched luxurious gloss. It’s exactly what a premium Envirobase High Performance clearcoat should be.”
