A group of PPG color forecasters met earlier this year to discuss the influences that will determine what colours and finishes we are likely to see in 2017. Since we are more than halfway through the year, it is more than likely that you will begin to see these colors appearing soon, so we are especially interested in what colors 2017 will bring for the automotive industry.
Dee Schlotter, Senior Color Marketing Manager for PPG’s paint brands in Pittsburgh, oversaw the forecast session. “We draw inspiration from global influences,” she said. “The team considers what’s happening in society, fashion, nature and elsewhere, and delves into things that resonate with consumers.”
The team concluded unanimously that the color “Violet Verbena”, a grayish-violet, was dominant in variety of different industries and geographical regions. One of the most prominent moments that perhaps made this color the perfect choice, was the death of rock-and-roll star, Prince, in April.
Although white will more than likely remain the most popular car color in North America, we wouldn’t be surprised if we have someone come to us asking for this new shade.
