Holiday Attractions for the Entire Family!

The holiday and Christmas seasons are upon us and California and Nevada are both filled with a plethora of family-fun activities for all. Whether you have loved-ones coming in to visit from out of town or you simply want to share in this year’s holiday pleasures with close friends, we have some ideas on which holiday attractions you should visit!
Northern and Southern California
- Napa Valley Wine Train
This guided tour, for both children and adults, provides a relaxing 3-hour, 36-mile round trip journey throughout the quaint village of St. Helena and Napa. In December, the “Wine Train” becomes the “Santa Express,” a magical experience for the young and the young at heart and is a fabulous and fun holiday attraction for the whole family. Santa will, of course, be adding to the holiday cheer aboard the train, along with his friends and carolers.
- Winter Wonderland
During December, Fairytale Town in Sacramento is decorated with festive trimmings and lit up at dusk with dazzling lights. This holiday event features hands-on craft activities and holiday vendors. 2 of Santa and his reindeer will visit and children can visit him in his workshop. An added bonus is that admission is free on December 24th!
- The Oakland Zoo
Visit the Oakland Zoo for their annual holiday event, ZooLights. Dazzling LED lights light up both the Zoo and night sky to celebrate the holiday season. This year’s festive display features a merry music-themed light show illuminating the Zoo’s African Veldt.
- Gingerbread Workshop in Lake Tahoe
Enjoy a Gingerbread Workshop under the expert teachings of a Ritz-Carlton pastry chef! Guests are invited to experience the wonder of creating a personalized gingerbread house decorated with all the trimmings. Holiday beverages included. Advance reservations are required. $125 per family
- Boat Parade
This Parade showcases the millions of twinkling lights covering cleverly decorated boat float throughout harbors and canals up and down the Pacific Coast of Southern California! Families who don’t mind bundling up their kids in the cool marine air will enjoy sitting and watching this quintessential SoCal event. Check out the harbor city near you for specific dates and times. Be sure to find out where the parade starts!
Amusement Park Holiday Fun
Southern California is known for it’s many amusement parks. Each one celebrates the holidays in grand style with extensive decorations and special events. Visiting these parks during the Christmas season can be twice as fun, extra special and provide decorative backgrounds for really great photos of your kids!
- Knott’s Merry Farm celebrates with the holiday spectacular, “Merry Christmas, Snoopy” ice show, plus parades, carolers and a special Christmas shopping village.

- Piper’s New Year’s Eve Celebration!
Put on those dancing shoes and join the celebration for a Piper’s Opera House benefit as they usher in the New Year, New York style in a New York minute! They will be live streaming the celebration in Times Square with their very own count down and balloon drop. You can also dance the night away with the big band sound of ‘Deep Groove’.
