Los Angeles-Area Automotive Events in April 2020 with COVID-19 Updates

Given the emergency situation surrounding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), and it being extended until April 30 until further notice, some, if not all, of these events may be impacted by this event. Please see below for updates. We recommend that you contact the event coordinator(s) to confirm the event of interest is cancelled, delayed, or is still proceeding for the month April. America’s love affair with the automobile endures, and as Southern California is often known as the hub of car culture, it’s probably no surprise that motor-related activities abound in April.

 

Check out some of the events we’ve found for you: hone your skills in automotive photography or chat with fellow enthusiasts at a Cars & Coffee event. Or check out a wide variety of classics, customs, and exotics at a car show, or maybe you feel the need for speed and you’d like to try your hand at wheeling your car around a road course!

Introduction to Automotive Photography at the Petersen Museum with Joe and Mirta Barnet

When: April 4

Where: 6060 Wilshire Boulevard

Los Angeles, CA

Time: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Recommended for beginners and intermediate photographers, this 4-hour hands-on workshop, led by Joe and Mirta Barnet of Samy’s Photo School, will teach you how to create great images of cars with a lecture and a hands-on car shoot.

 

The instructors will discuss topics including: the preferred gear for photographing cars, techniques like panning, camera angles, where to SAFELY position yourself in a race for the best photos, choosing backgrounds, and post-processing techniques in Lightroom and Photoshop to take your images to the next level.

 

The class will then have an opportunity to put into practice what it just learned by photographing a car from the Petersen Automotive Museum’s collection in Samy’s Studio at the Petersen. Triggering devices will be provided. Learn more.

Whittier Hills Cars & Coffee

When: April 5, 12, 19, 26

Where: Whittwood Town Center

Whittier, CA

Time: 7:00 am to 9:00 am

 

Come hang out and meet with other car enthusiasts every Sunday. The organizers say they are looking to grow the gatherings into a large community event. They hope to host special events throughout the year, including rallies and more. Supercars, exotics, and classics are welcomed! Learn more.

Concours/Car Show in the Canyons

When: April 18

Where: College of the Canyons

26455 Rockwell Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita, California

Time: 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

 

Hosted by the California Inland Region Porsche Club of America, the first regional concours of 2020 will be held in a beautiful park-like setting at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita. In addition to Porsches being judged in the concours, there will also be cars registered for display-only.

26th Annual Orange Plaza Car Show by Rotary Club of Orange Plaza

When: Sun, April 19

Where: Old Towne Orange Plaza Square

Old Towne Orange, CA

Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

 

Orange Plaza Rotary is the proud host of the Annual Orange Plaza Car Show. Money raised will help fund community outreach programs, youth education, and literacy programs.

Nearly 400 pre-1976 Street Rods, Custom and Classic vehicles will be on display. The show is estimated to bring out 15,000+ spectators to the beautiful Plaza area in the City of Orange. It is a wonderful event for the entire family to enjoy. Local restaurants and shops will welcome all in attendance. There is no admission fee for spectators. The show will run from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Registration for car show entries will begin on February 1, 2020 at 8 AM, organizers report that they usually sell out within two days. However, standby registration is available on the day of the event. Learn more.

Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show

When: April 19

Where: Fairplex, 1101 W McKinley Avenue, Pomona, CA

Time: 5:00 am to 2:00 pm

 

Pomona is the West Coast’s Largest automotive swap meet and classic car show.

With seven one-day events each year, this Southern California classic is specifically designed for car enthusiasts.  More than 30,000 people and 15 miles of parts, accessories, automobilia, and classic cars!

 

For the best shopping, swapping, and auto viewing, organizers recommend arriving early… remember, “the early bird gets the worm.” Learn more.

Important update following the COVID-19 virus spread:
Until further notice, only few of our services are operational: our racing simulator at Fast Toys in Los Angeles, race car rentals at some selected tracks and exotic car rentals. Track Events, Driving Tours are currently on hold.

 

Fast Toys Club Track Day

When: April 23

Where: Auto Club Speedway

9300 Cherry Ave., Fontana, CA

Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

Fast Toys organizes monthly private track days at race tracks within driving distance from Los Angeles or San Francisco. Bring your own car or drive theirs; their unique format allows you to drive a much as you want, and they even provide driving instructors for you to hone your driving skills. Fast Toys track days are about having fun and being safe, and they tailor days to smaller groups where people can get to know each other while enjoying their cars.

Host of the Auto Club 400 (NASCAR) and the Indycar MAVTV500 every year, Auto Club Speedway’s ROVAL version of the track uses half of the speedway (oval), letting you use the 14-degree banking raced by the Indycar and Nascar cars, plus the in-field road course, for a 2.8-mile course. Race car rentals (Ferrari 488 Challenge, Le Mans Prototype or Ferrari 458 Challenge) are available from $4,250 a half-day. Learn more.

 

UPDATE: This event has been Postponed.

To be safe we’re going to postpone the event. We do have a back-up-date in place at the same location, but we’re going to let things settle down before we announce it. It’s MANY MONTHS away so we should be absolutely fine.

If you have already paid for registration nothing changes. Your ticket(s) will work on the new date. If you can’t attend, we’re happy to refund your money. Give us a chance to announce the new date, though.

2020 Southern California Eibach Meet

When: April 26

Where: Auto Club Dragway

Time: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

What began 15 years ago as a means of gathering like-minded Honda enthusiasts for a day of face-to-face interaction and the sharing of automotive-related ideas has become the largest Honda-specific car meet in the United States. With more than 1,200 cars registered each year, more than 45 industry-leading vendors, a highly anticipated raffle for high-end parts, and, more recently, the inclusion of competitive drag racing, the Southern California Eibach Meet has established itself not only as the premier Honda event year after year, but as an industry staple on the high-paced SoCal events calendar. For 2020, the Eibach Meet celebrates its 16th anniversary and anticipates its largest event to date.
